Stephanie Plum has lost her job as a lingerie buyer for a Newark department store. The bills are piling up, and her savings are gone. So she goes to her cousin Vinnie, who runs a bail bonding company. A little blackmail gets her the best-paying case he has.
The fugitive is Joe Morelli, a Trenton cop charged with murder one in the shooting of Ziggy Kulesza. Morelli skipped his court date, and bringing him in pays $10,000. Stephanie knows him well. Morelli was the neighborhood boy who took her virginity behind the éclair case at the Tasty Pastry bakery. Years later, she hit him with her father’s Buick.
She has no training and no clue how to cuff anyone. What she has is stubbornness. As she chases Morelli, she starts to suspect he may be innocent. The witnesses who could clear him have gone missing, and the trail leads to a boxing gym and a very dangerous man.

Yes. The film came to cinemas on January 27, 2012, directed by Julie Anne Robinson and released by Lionsgate. Katherine Heigl took the role of Stephanie Plum, with Jason O’Mara as Morelli and Daniel Sunjata as Ranger. Sherri Shepherd played Lula, and Debbie Reynolds played Grandma Mazur.
The film did not work. It scored 2 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and earned $38.1 million worldwide on a $40 million budget, so no sequel followed. If you have only seen the movie, the book is a different and much better experience.
