Many library mysteries are set in a small-town public library, but not all. One series takes place in a lighthouse, another in a college library, a third in a library that is haunted. Cat in the Stacks Mysteries by Miranda James
Charlie Harris is a widower who works at a college library in Athena, Mississippi, and his constant companion is Diesel, a Maine Coon cat. The college-town setting and the gentle humor make it one of the best-loved series of its kind. There are 17 books, published from 2010 to 2025. The newest is Something Whiskered (July 2025).
Magical Cats Mysteries by Sofie Kelly
