Cindy Blackburn, the author of Playing With Poison, book #1 in the Cue Ball Mystery series, is a relative newcomer to “our” world of sassy writers. She is one author that I hope we hear much more of. I know I will be reading the next 2 books in this series.
Jessie Hewett, middle aged romance writer, and closet pool shark, introduces herself while shopping for bras. Giving her a hand is Candy Poppe, neighbor and bra saleswoman. How does Candy’s young boyfriend end up dead on Jessie’s couch? Holy moly, who would’a thought? Of course Jessie emerges as suspect #1, even though she barely knew the guy.
Come along with us, as we get involved with the case, along with Jessie and Candy, and oh yes, let’s remember Snowflake, Jessie’s pretty kitty cat. Jessie recruits her pals at The Stone Fountain, the local watering hole, to give them a hand as the leads grow stale. Playing With Poison has lots of peaks and valleys, and of course silly moments galore.
Get behind the 8 ball, and give this humorous book a try. I’m sure that you, too, will want to continue reading the rest of the series.
