Day 1
6 of our month of giveaways and today we have up for grabs the third book in this great series by Liz Lipperman:
A sports writing job would have been the perfect catch for Jordan McAllister, but in Ranchero, Texas, all she could reel in was the food column. Though she may not know her way around a kitchen, she has no trouble finding herself in a kettle of fish…
Tempted by the offer of a free Caribbean cruise, Jordan accepts a spot as a judge in a week-long big-time cooking competition aboard the Carnation Queen. She just better hope no one finds out that her famous palate is far from refined.
But there are bigger fish to fry when arrogant chef Stefano Mancini falls face first into his signature halibut dish during the first event. While evidence suggests that the handsome Italian chef’s death was an accident, Jordan thinks otherwise. But she’ll have to keep her wits about her—and the sea sickness pills handy—if she’s going to solve this one…

This sounds like a marvelous read. I enjoy culinary cozy mysteries and I recommend Claudia Bishop’s Hemlock Hall series. Murder for the Halibut sounds like it would be just as much fun.

My favorite culinary cozy mysteries are Jenn McKinlay’s Cupcake Mysteries – just love them from start to finish!
I love this series. I have read all the reviews on this book and from what i hear its an amazing adventure and laugh out loud.
So much fun in one book; I would love this, absolutely love it. There is nothing like a good cozy and some laughter to help me survive the winter!
I love culinary cozies, but I’m new to the genre. I think so far my favorites have been Lucy Burdette’s Death in Four Courses and Julie Hyzy’s State of the Onion. I’d love this one; I’ve read great things about it on Goodreads and elsewhere!
My fave – all time – the Martha’s Vineyard Mysteries by Philip Craig.
So many of the culinary cozies are great… Julie Hyzy’s, Diane Mott Davidson, the old ones by Lou Jane Temple…. Hoping I win this one!
Sounds like a great new series to try.

Starting to realize that the food “cozies” are my favorite – would love to win this one!
i don’t have a favorite, maybe this will be it!
This sounds like a great book. A sports writer become food critic turned amateur detective? Sounds like there might be plenty of grins and giggles to be had.
Sounds like a great series, hope i win. Livia J Washburn writes a good series called Fresh-Baked Mysteries, Peach of a Murder is the first book.
I’ve enjoyed so many it’s hard to just point out a few. I’m a big fan of Julie Hyzy’s White House Chef series, I’ve enjoyed Jenn McKinlay’s Cupcake Bakery mysteries, and I’d have to rank the Clueless Cook Mysteries right up there. I just finished Beef Stolen-Off this past weekend.
thanks for chance
death by fish… ew!

Sounds like a great read. I just enjoyed Plum Pudding Murder by Joanne Fluke and enjoyed it.
Food cozy mysteries are one of my favorites since I love to cook too. I have tried many of the recipes I have read about. One of our favorite cookie recipes is from Joanne Fluke. I really like the series by Julie Hyzy and Avery Aames
I love the title of this book–for some reason the ugly halibut just makes the title a little cozier. I also particularly enjoy Avery Ames cheese shop mysteries and her good cheese recipes.

I actually can’t think of a single culinary cozy mystery that I’ve read. I have several on my TBR list but none on my read list. I’ll have to remedy that. Most of my cozy mysteries are librarians and such, but not a single chef.
